Background information and interests

Dr Leanne McRae is the Senior Researcher and Creative Industrial Matrix convenor for the Popular Culture Collective. For ten years Leanne has been teaching at university and is a specialist instructor in Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Screen Studies and Creative Industries. This expertise has been cultivated through higher degree qualifications in a Master of Arts (Media Studies) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Cultural Studies).

Leanne's publication list reflects a growing and diverse range of research interests from men's studies, through to postwork, mobility studies, popular cultural studies and pedagogy. The stand-out publications include "The Redhead Review: Accelerated Modernity and Popular Cultural Studies" published by History of Intellectual Culture, "Rethinking Tourism: Edward Said and a Politics of Meeting and Movement" published by Tourist Studies, and a recent article accepted for publication with the Journal of Employability and the Humanities entitled "Postwork and Pedagogy: The Casualisation of Knowledge, Employment and Expertise." Currently, she is preparing an article on the relationship between universities, employment and popular cultural studies. In her spare time, Leanne is an avid tango dancer.
